Have Questions?
Frequently Asked
Questions
How much beef is in a Half?
Depending on the live weight of the steer, the half usually comes out to be between 250 and 280 lbs. of meat. At our current rate of $6.75/lb. hanging weight, that comes to between $1,687.50 and $1,890.00.
How much beef is in a quarter?
Depending on the live weight of the steer, the quarter usually comes out to be between 130 and 150 lbs. of meat. At our current rate of $6.75/lb. hanging weight, that comes to between $877.50 and $1,012.50..
What cuts of meat will I get with my beef?
With the Halves and Quarters, you will get a “cut sheet” that you will fill out with your desired cuts. You will choose your style and thickness of steaks, which sections you want made into roasts and which to grind or burger. You will choose if you want brisket and ribs or if you want that meat ground. Lots of choices and plenty of assistance to help you navigate the selection process if you need it!
How big of a freezer do I need for a Half?
Most resources will say you need about 1 cu. ft. per each 35 lbs. of meat. In our experience, if you have a 9 to 12 cu. ft. freezer, you will have plenty of space for your beef and still be able to put some other goodies in there!
How much freezer space do I need for a quarter beef?
Similarly to the Half beef, you will need approximately 1 cu. ft. of freezer space for each 35 lbs. of meat. One of the small 5 to 7 cu. ft. chest freezers will do nicely and allow for some extra storage space for you.
What is the Bag of Beef program about?
